Typical Cavalry Reenanctor

Uniforms and Tack

It is not necessary to own a horse to be a member of the 2nd Va. Cavlalry Co. C. A horse may be provided when possible, provided you know how to ride. Or, you may be assigned to dismounted cavalry or Stuart's Horse Artillery if a horse is not available.

As a trooper in the 2nd Virginia you need to procure the following items for your impression:


Uniform (mounted and dismounted)
Shell Jacket (Confederate, 7 - 9 button)
Shirt (plain white)
Trousers (sky blue - mounted or infantry)
Suspenders
Hat (Confederate; gray forage cap, kepi or slouch)
(Federal; blue kepi or forage cap)
Saber belt, cartridge box and cap pouch (black)
Buckle (A Federal buckle may be used for both)
Boots (Cavalry boots or brogans are acceptable)

Tack (mounted):
1859 McCellan saddle
Leather headstall (bridle)
Leather lead strap
Leather halter
Saddle blanket
Surcingle (safety purpose)

Weapons:
Cavalry saber and saber belt
Carbine and sling
Revolver and holster

Additional items (recommended, not required):
Civil War "A" tent
Bedroll
Mess kit
Federal haversack
Canteen
Gauntlets
